1950’s 1.16th Scale. Part of the ‘My Dolly’s Kitchen’ series from the 1950s. Tinplate set including red and white kitchen dresser and double oven/hob. Manufactured by Brimtoy. Brimtoy, toy manufacturers was est. in 1923.

Late 1960s/early 70’s set.

Dol-Toi Products (Stamford) Limited had its origins in a company set up in 1944  building caravans and  repairing agricultural barns,   with the spare offcuts used to make dollhouse furniture.

The fine, sharp grains embedded in the terracotta was utilised for grinding down spices, herbs and sauces in Roman cuisine.

 Replica Wrought Iron Medieval Brandreth. A tripod shaped object for balancing cookware over the open fire.

A pipkin was a cooking pot used for cooking over direct heat from coals or a wood fire. It had a handle and most had three feet. Late medieval and post-medieval pipkins had a hollow handle into which a stick could be inserted to manage the object better.Metal Pipkins are called Posnets.

Item No. 256. A Mexican Metate sed to grind anything from corn to cocoa beans. Bought directly from a village in Mexico.

A metate is a type of quern or grinding stone originally used by ancient Mayans and Aztecs. Made from volcanic rock.

Item No. 259. A 4-ring Molinillo for frothing chocolate.

A molinillo, which is used in several countries including Mexico, Latin American regions and the Philippines among others. They became adapted for the British market in the 1600s to whisk chocolate in large brass pots. It  is held between the palms and rotated creating a frothy liquid.

Item No. 260. A 20c Dutch Oven.

Often made of cast iron. These are cooking pots for casseroles or one pot dishes. Originated in the Netherlands in the 1700s. Influenced other cookware like the Jamaican 'Dutchie'.
